2-12 oz cans chickpeas (also known as Garbanzo beans)
2 Tbsp. tahini paste
Juice of one lemon
12 tsp. garlic powder
OR 2 large garlic cloves, minced
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt (may be adjusted to your taste)
1/4 c. olive oil
water

Place first 7 ingredients in the bowl of a food processor or blender. Pulse the machine to breakup the beans. Add olive oil. Through the tube or top of blender, start adding water 1 Tbsp at a time. When paste resembles a thick batter, stop. Taste and adjust seasonings. Place on a bowl or spread on a platter. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika. Serve with Pita Chips. Hummus will keep in the refrigerator for a week.
